New Podcast: Are We Overcomplicating Wellness?

It sometimes feels like being healthy has become a full-time job.
Track your steps. Optimize your sleep. Take the right supplements. Get enough protein. Buy the wearable. Try cold exposure. Get morning sunlight. And don't forget whatever longevity hack is trending this week.
I'm a nutritionist, and I genuinely love learning about this stuff. But even I sometimes wonder:
Are we overcomplicating wellness?
The problem isn't necessarily that all of these things are useless. Some have genuinely interesting research behind them.
The better question may be:
Not just “Does it work?” but “How much does it actually matter?”
Because while we're busy optimizing the final 5%, it's easy to overlook the things that consistently have a much greater impact on our health.
Building and maintaining muscle. Improving cardiorespiratory fitness. Moving throughout the day. Eating enough fiber. Getting restorative sleep. Maintaining meaningful relationships.
They're not particularly flashy. And nobody needs to sell you a $400 device to take a walk after dinner. 😂
There's nothing wrong with exploring the extras. Creatine, wearables, red light therapy, cold plunges, greens powders, apple cider vinegar...some may have a place.
But the icing shouldn't distract us from the cake.
That's one of the reasons I created my new podcast, Wellness Explained.
I wanted a place where we could dig into the research without making wellness even more overwhelming...and ask not only whether something works, but where it actually belongs on our list of priorities.
In the first official episode, I explore the health habits that deserve more of our attention...and where some of the popular wellness “extras” may fit.
Wellness can be fun. We just don't need to optimize every second of our lives to be healthy.
Sometimes instead of asking “What else should I be doing?”, the better question is:
“What matters most?”
